Cape May, NJ Maternity Session

I absolutely adore this family. My journey with the Murphy’s began in 2019 when Regina contacted me asking to document a different kind of baby photo shoot, a furbaby!  I of course said yes, I mean how could I turn down the opportunity to meet a puppy?! The Murphy’s first furbaby Moschi was still getting used to the fact that he wasn’t an only child anymore. Just look at sweet Nori’s face though! Adorable! If you are anything like me, your pets are family and documenting new fur additions are just as important and highly recommended so I can snuggle them too!

Our photography relationship didn’t end there, a year later Regina contacted me to share that she was pregnant with their first child, (human this time)! I was so excited to capture this next chapter of their story. We met up to do a pregnancy announcement and gender reveal in one. We took these photos at one of my favorite spots in North Cape May, NJ. Being it was February at the time, Regina really wanted to incorporate those classic candy conversation hearts in her reveal but with such short notice, there was no where to custom order them for a gender reveal. I was not going to to let that ruin her vision so, I made them myself! We used regular conversation hearts for the filler but I custom made white, green and blue hearts to mix in and added the reveal in post editing. Surprise! Regina and Derrik are expecting a boy!

It was much warmer when it came time for Regina and Derrik’s maternity session so we headed to the beach in Cape May.  The pups were back to make an appearance too!

Regina made two selections from my client closet, both being Sew Trendy Accessories dresses. The first was a combination of the Serenity gown in Plum with a lace flounce layered over it. Sew Trendy carries a variety of crop tops to add versatility to their gowns and I am absolutely obsessed with them. You can layer different tops and even bottoms, as well as wear them alone, to create different looks and it also adds more variety to the client closet.  The color, the flounce and the mermaid skirt along with fitted bodice to show off that bump was the perfect combination on Regina. That inner goddess was shining bright!

Can I just point out one feature that makes all the difference in the fitted gowns? No side seams! Without the seams on the side it gives you a much smoother and sleeker look.

Regina’s second gown was the sage Camilla, another perfect choice. Similar to the Serenity, this also features a flounce and mermaid skirt but in chiffon. I love the way Regina exudes pure happiness and radiance. This is the best part of what I do, I love to see mamas like this. It will never get old.

“All women are goddesses, and it’s just a matter of letting that goddess-power shine. If you don’t try to be the biggest and baddest goddess you can be, you are selling yourself short.”
