Q: When to take maternity photos?
A: 7th month or 27 to 31 weeks is ideal but every pregnancy is different especially when carrying more than one so your timeline could be a little sooner or a little later. We aim for a nice round visible bump. After your 7th month, swelling and discomfort is a common symptom of pregnancy. We want to make sure to still capture your beautiful belly but when you are most comfortable. This is why it is also important to contact us a few months in advance so we can tailor the time frame to your needs.
Q: When should I contact a photographer?
A: It’s never too soon to reach out, the sooner the better. Sessions are typically booked out 2-3 months in advance at times and it can also take up to 4 weeks when ordering a custom gown. Get in touch when you find out you are expecting or by your 2nd trimester.
Q: Why you should take maternity photos?
A: Every BODY is beautiful. Celebrate what your body is capable of, the life you are building, the story you are creating. I wish I had photos of my mother when she was pregnant with me. Would I care what size she was or if she didn’t have the perfect complexion? No and your children won’t be looking at those things either, they will be looking at where it all started, and one fierce mama. These photos aren’t for anyone but you and your children. When it’s over… it’s over! You can not recreate these moments. You don’t want to have the regret. You will never regret having this time documented. We want you to look back on these photos and say “I did that!” I want you to feel the connection with your baby and intimacy with your partner.
Q: What should I wear?
A: We provide a client closet to take the stress out of finding and buying a dress you will only wear once. If you don’t like what you see we will chat about your vision and and arrange to get you what you have your heart set on.
Q: Where can I change outfits during my session?
A: I provide a pop up changing tent for you to change in privately.
Q: Do you provide accessories?
A: We sure do! We carry a variety of flower crowns, hats, shawls, kimonos and more to complete your look.
Q: Where to do maternity pictures?
A: A sentimental location, spot that holds a special place in your heart, like the place you got engaged or the beach you grew up visiting are some amazing spots for your maternity pictures. We help you plan all of it! What kind of vibe do you like? What speaks to you? Are you a beach/ocean person, woodsy, rustic? Where do you connect? We like to select locations based on what’s meaningful to you.
Q: Why do maternity photos on your baby moon?
A: Celebrating your journey together while you prepare for the next chapter of your story is important. This is a moment that cannot be recreated, so why not capture it on your romantic getaway and take advantage of your romantic connection and that smitten look in your eyes. A maternity photo shoot during your baby moon is an opportunity for you and your partner to take a break and soak it all in, reminisce on the life you started, where it all began and where it’s headed…the story you are writing.Only in town for a couple days and worried about weather? No problem, we can switch to the comfort of your own hotel room for a more intimate maternity session.
Q: Do you provide hair and makeup?
A: Hair and makeup is not included but we work with the best in Cape May County and can provide you with amazing references!
Q: Can my significant other and/or children join me for my maternity session?
A: Absolutely!
Q: What else should I do to prepare for my session?
A: This is a day to celebrate YOU and to feel like the goddess you are. Get pampered mama, make a day out of it, book a massage, get a fresh mani/pedi and schedule hair and makeup. You will show up feeling refreshed, radiant and confident which will reflect in your beautiful smile
Q: What is the difference between a posed newborn session and an in home lifestyle newborn session?
A: An in home lifestyle baby session is more relaxed no props no backdrops no posing. We focus on the little sentiments, connection and emotion. We aim to tell your story. A posed newborn session is where the baby is in outfits, props and props. We know that in studio newborn sessions are very trendy right now but our goal it to tell your story so you can show your children 20 years from now.
Q: When should you have your in home newborn session?
A: The ideal time for your in home newborn session is the first two weeks before baby really starts changing, and man do they do that fast! You want things like their little fingers and toes, the umbilical cord, and those little baby rolls. Baby is still sleepy during this time which is perfect for being snuggly and capturing those little details.
Q: Why is newborn photography important?
A: The short answer, time is a thief. The long answer, newborn photos cannot be recreated. They are once in a lifetime moments that you can never get back. Babies change by the day and before you know it they are growing bigger and entering new stages. That’s why we want to freeze time for just a short while so that you can remember these moments for a lifetime. We know you’re tired. We get it! We’ve been in your position only a few years ago. But, this is exactly why you should have these moments to look back on and treasure. These are important because the first few weeks can be such a blur. As an added bonus, this is a time for you to take a break, snuggle with your family and take in the moment.
Q: Why should you have an in-home newborn session?
A: Comfort and convenience! There’s no rushing around or having to pack everything up. These things can get tricky and overwhelming fast with a family or brand new baby. There’s no forgetting an extra bottle or change of clothes. Everything is easily accessible. Capturing everyone exactly as they are where they are most comfortable. It provides a more relaxed environment in your own space especially for younger children. Children have all their favorite things easily accessible and can come and go as they please. This makes your photo shoot much easier. Your home is where your stories are told so they will be reflected in your photos. One day the crib will be put away, the chair where you spent so many bonding moments on while you sang them their favorite lullaby as you rocked them to sleep will be sold or thrown away. Nursery decor will change as they get older. These are the details that make your in home newborn session unique. And 10 years from now when you are reminiscing over the photos it will evoke those special little memories and prompt more bonding moments as you tell your children stories about when they were little.
